{ Little Octopus... }

NOTE: This octopus measures 10 cm approximately. Of course should you choose a different hook or yarn calling, measures will vary.

Materials:
- 3.00 mm crochet hook
- 100 % cotton yarn for a 3.00 mm hook
- Polyfiber fill for stuffing (You can also place a rattle inside! I used this one.)
- Tapestry needle

Colors:
- One color for the body of your octopus.
- A bit of brown or black to embroider the eyes.
- A bit of pink yarn to embroider the cheeks.

Abbreviations:
st = stitch
slst = slip stitch
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet

Ready? Let’s start…

First of all you need to crochet this little piece…

Piece 1:
1. Start with a magic ring of 6 sc
2. Crochet *2 sc in each st*, repeat * (12)
3. Crochet *2 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (16)
Close, break the yarn and weave in ends. SET ASIDE FOR A WHILE.

Body:
1. Start with a magic ring of 6 sc
2. Crochet *2 sc in each st*, repeat * (12)
3. Crochet *1 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (18)
4. Crochet *2 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (24)
5. Crochet *3 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (30)
6. Crochet *4 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (36)
7. to 14. Crochet 36 sc
15. Crochet *4 sc, one decrease*, repeat * (30)
16. to 17. Crochet 30 sc
18. Crochet *3 sc, one decrease*, repeat * (24)
19. to 20. Crochet 24 sc
(Embroider the eyes with a bit of Brown or black yarn between rounds 16 and 17 (the distance between the eyes is 8 stitches). Embroider the cheeks too and, if you want, place the rattle inside now…)
21. Crochet *2 sc, one decrease*, repeat * (18)
{Stuff firmly.}
22. Crochet 18 sc
23. Crochet *7 sc, one decrease*, repeat * (16)
Now take the piece 1 you’ve done previously and place it over the hole, as a lid…
24. Crochet 16 sc, inserting your hook into one stitch of the body and one stitch of Piece 1 at the same time, to join them, closing the body. Stuff firmly before closing completely…
25. Only through front loops crochet *1 slst, [1 sc + 1 hdc + 1 dc + 1 hdc + 1 sc (all in the same stitch)]*, repeat * 8 times.
When you’ve done the last stitch, go to the first back loop and crochet 1 slst there. Then chain 51 ch stitches. Starting from the second chain from hook, crochet 3 sc in each ch stitch, till you reach the border of the body (150 mp). And now… Crochet *1 slst in the next back loop and chain 51 ch stitches again. Insert hook in the second ch from hook and do 3 sc. Crochet 3 sc in each stitch along the chain, until you reach the border of the body again (150 sc)*. Repeat * till you complete 8 tentacles. Crochet one last slst to finish.
Close, break the yarn and weave in ends.
Done! Congratulations!!
